Mission Statement
As Head Coach of Simi High my goal is to create a competitive culture that promotes growth, enjoyment, accountability and discipline. The environment will be positive and constructive allowing players to be themselves while finding ways to improve. High school athletics is a unique experience. It is a time where kids learn a great deal about themselves but also what competition really is. It is my responsibility to not only provide these girls with the skills to be successful on the field but off of it as well. Cultivating the habits for success high school and beyond is very important. Finally, I expect that on the field we are consistently competitive. This means we are able to win the majority of games we play. A challenge is opportunity dressed in deviant clothing. Nothing is achieved without belief. As a competitor belief must be in your foundation.
Rules
1. Commitment is mandatory. Girls are expected to be on time and at every training session. Weekends and holidays are no exception. On time means prepared to train the moment practice begins, not putting on your cleats, not fixing your hair, not messing with your phone. If a girl has to miss practice for whatever reason it needs to be communicated to me or their respective coach in advance. This doesn’t mean the night before or the day of, advance means two training days before the day the player will miss. Example, if a player is going to miss Wednesday then they need to tell me or their coach Monday before practice at the latest. If a player misses a practice for an unexcused reason they will be suspended for 1 game. Illness, medical or family emergencies are all under excusable absences. Detention and academic issues will not be excused. It is expected that with their commitment to the program all players maintain appropriate academic standards.
2. Dress code. In addition to the first rule all players are required to wear proper training gear. This means a practice shirt, black shorts and white socks (no exceptions). The dress code is required for every training. Failure to come in the right gear will result in being unable to train which will be treated like an unexcused absence.
3. Practice Attitude. All players should be completely focused throughout training. Not giving proper effort, showing apathy, being disruptive and showing dissent towards the coaching staff is unacceptable. A player may be removed from a training session for this reason. Further punishment will be at the discretion of the coach. If there is something going on that’s bothering a player they should communicate to their coach before training so the coach can better manage them.
4. Lastly respect and positivity. Respect and positivity throughout the whole program is vital. Whether a player is on Varsity, JV or Frosh/Soph they all are to be treated the same. A positive culture leads to more productive individuals which leads to greater success. All players must understand whether they are friends off the field or not as part of the program we are united in a common goal. Any player/s who start or proliferate drama, abuses teammates and or coaching staff, consistently communicate poorly with teammates and or coaching staff, or comes regularly to training with a poor attitude will be at risk for removal from practice, suspension and if severe enough dismissal from the program. Issues such as the ones above become major distractions and will hinder our ability to achieve success.
If all players adhere to the rules above it will go a long way to insuring a quality season
